The high-entropy alloy systems NiCoAlFeCu, NiCoAlFeCuCr and NiCoAlFeCuCrTi were synthesized by mechanical alloying in a Simoloyer ball mill during 60 h under an argon atmosphere, using methanol as a process control agent. The alloy powders were deposited over an Inconel 718 substrate by air plasma spraying (APS) to form overlay coatings. Heat treatment at 1200 ºC during 3 h in vacuum was conducted to homogenize the coating and improve the adhesion by diffusion between the substrate and the coating. Subsequent oxidation treatment at 1100 ºC for 5 h was carried out to allow the formation of oxides scales. X-ray diffraction patterns were obtained of the as-milled powders as well as of the coatings. Microstructural evolution of samples were also analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
