This research presents the experimental results of the evaluation of aluminum 2024-T351 by stress corrosion cracking. The experimental results were obtained by the constant extension rate test technique (CERT), using three different extension rates (1X10-6, 2X10-6 and 7x10-6 mm/s-1), using electrochemical noise technique. The specimens were immersed in two different concentrations of NaCl. The characterization was carried out by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) after the aluminum failed. The images showed that the aluminum alloy did not show pitting or other form of corrosion. The failure was caused by the mechanisms of stress applied to the alloy.
